NVMP-voorzitter Herman Spanjaard benoemd tot Ridder

in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau

Voor zijn vrijwilligerswerk als voorzitter van de NVMP gedurende 13 jaar

(www.nvmp.org), zijn internationale Bestuursfuncties bij de

overkoepelende Federatie IPPNW (www.ippnw.org) (Voorzitter International

Council, penningmeester, vice-president Europe) en zijn vele andere

nationale en locale bestuursfuncties in Onderwijs en Kunstwereld  heeft

Hare Majesteit de heer H.O.Spanjaard, bedrijfsarts, benoemd tot Ridder

in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau (29 april 2011).

For his work as Chair of the Dutch IPPNW affiliate NVMP(13 years), his

International IPPNW Board functions (Chair International Council,

Treasurer, European Vice-President Europe) since 2000, and his many

national and local voluntary Board functions in Education and Art

fields, the Occupational Health physician Herman Spanjaard was made

Knight in the Order of Oranje Nassau by HM the Queen on the 30st of

april 2011.

De heer Spanjaard woont in Halfweg en heeft zich op zeer veel gebieden,vooral op medisch en internationaal gebied, ingezet.

De heer Spanjaard was 13 jaar bestuurslid van de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Medische Polemologie (NVMP). Een vereniging voor gezondheidszorg en

vredesvraagstukken die zich inzet voor de preventie van oorlog en geweld.

Zijn vele contacten met politici leidden tot symposia waarop beleid ter discussie werd gesteld, wat mede leidde tot bijstellingen in het

Nederlandse beleid (consequenties landmijnenverdrag, US-kernwapens). Op internationaal niveau is de heer Spanjaard ook actief. Van 1996 tot heden is hij bestuurslid van de Hague Appeal for Peace, het samenwerkingsverband dat in 1999 de wereldconferentie in Den Haag organiseerde, waarbij vele regeringsleiders en prominenten aanwezig waren. Bij de moederorganisatie, IPPNW (international Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear war), is hij vanaf 2000 tot heden actief. Hij is delegatielid in vele delegaties naar hoofdsteden van nucleaire wapenstaten om daar in overleg te treden met regering en parlement van die landen. Vanaf 2008 tot heden is de heer Spanjaard secretaris van de Nederlandse Vereniging van Arbeids- en Bedrijfsgeneeskunde (NVAB). Van 1999 tot 2004 was hij voorzitter van de ouderraad van Basisschool Halverwege te Halfweg en gaf hij steun aan de schooldirectie ten aanzien van praktische zaken en aan de inhoud en uitvoering van het onderwijs. Ook was hij zes jaar penningmeester van het Nederlands Concert Koor en medebestuurder in het Dagelijks Bestuur. Naast het beheer van de financiën voerde hij overleg met de dirigent over het programma en was hij betrokken bij de onderhandelingen met orkesten en zalen in het hele land. Van 1987 tot 2002 was de heer Spanjaard actief in diverse bestuursfuncties in organisaties van levensbeschouwelijke aard.

Van 2008 tot 2010 was hij bedrijfsarts AEB en verrichtte werkzaamheden zoals verzuimbegeleiding en risco-inventarisatie. De heer Spanjaard was vijf jaar penningmeester bij de Vereniging van Zelfstandige Gymnasia.

Uitreiking

Voor deze bijzondere prestaties zijn de twee heren en de dame bij Koninklijk Besluit benoemd tot Lid in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau. De heer

Spanjaard is benoemd tot Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau. Op 29 april 2010 om 11.00 uur zijn de bijbehorende versierselen door de burgemeester uitgereikt.

Je langdurige vasthoudendheid en je vermogen dit op zowel nationaal als internationaal niveau vorm te geven, zijn bewonderenswaardig en de eervolle vermelding (Het heeft Hare Majesteit behaagd ...) is dan ook volkomen terecht. Geniet ervan, want je zult zelf wel de eerste zijn (geweest) die dit allemaal heeft gerelativeerd.

For so many years you and I have been working friendly and successfully together. Together we tried to build up new forms of friendship between colleagues of the Balkan region, and under your affiliate´s  presidentship I performed the humanitarian trips to the war-and post war regions of former Yugoslavia. I was always certain of your loyalty and support and I will not forget  our mutual efforts of your Dutch IPPNW  affiliate and our German IPPNW affiliate to actualize our organisations´ name  to " International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear and all War ", even if it was in vaine. Both of us understood that prevention of injustice and war is the precondition of prevention of nuclear war and the proliferation of  nuclear weapons and material. I had invited him to come and speak to students. He responded on my phone answering
